Long-time Student Affairs Dean, Jane Brewer, Announces Retirement

After a storied career spanning 43 years, USC Salkehatchie's Jane Brewer is retiring at the end of the year. "I am both excited about this new chapter in my life and sad to leave Salkehatchie. I have worked here for 43 years so it has been a big part of my life. It will be strange not to be wrapped up in all things Salk! But after 43 years, it is time for Jane time," Brewer said.

Free Covid Testing for Students and Employees

University Health Services is providing FREE Covid-19 testing on Tuesday, October 27 for USC Salkehatchie students and employees. The event will be held on both campuses: Allendale - 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Walterboro - 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

USC Salkehatchie announces reopening for Fall 2020 semester face-to-face instruction

USC Salkehatchie will reopen for in-person classes on the Allendale and Walterboro campuses on August 20, 2020. In order to safely welcome students back, school leaders have reimagined life on its campuses for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Face coverings will be required on-campus and social distancing will be implemented in classrooms and other campus settings among members of the campus community. Additional online options are also available for students.

Sarah Ward: Onward and Upward

Sarah Ward is 17 years old and has lived in Colleton County all of her life. Like most typical teenaged girls, she loves to shop and be with friends. But Sarah is anything but typical. She just recently graduated from Colleton County High School. But she also graduated with an associate degree from ... college, the first person to achieve this at CCHS.

When Bakari Sellers spoke at USC Salkehatchie on Feb. 26, he had a clear message to his audience: Don't let your zip code define who you are. "You can be from Hampton, Allendale, Colleton or Bamberg and show that you, too, can change the world," Sellers said.

Honor Lists Announced

USC Salkehatchie is proud to recognize 100 of its exceptional students for achieving the honor of President's List or Dean's List for the Fall 2019 term. In order to qualify for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 GPA in all coursework attempted. To qualify for the Dean's list a student must earn at least a 3.5 GPA in all coursework attempted.

Smalls named Jefferson Award Recipient

Instructor of Criminal Justice Kevin Smalls, also a Colleton County deputy, took the time to listen, took the time to act and chartered a new course for a complete stranger. Because of his actions, Smalls was named a Jefferson Award winner by ABC News 4.

Steward Lectures in London

Associate Professor of History Dr. Rodney Steward recently lectured to the American Civil War Round Table of the United Kingdom in London.

Mogilski published in Frontiers in Psychology

Assistant Professor of Psychology Dr. Justin K. Mogilski was recently published in Frontiers in Psychology.
