Brian Helmuth, now at Northeastern University, Jerry Hilbish, and co-workers published an article in the Nature journal Scientific Data.
The work was initiated when Brian was a professor in the Biology Department at USC. By positioning robotic mussels as sensors for environmental data inside living mussels beds, the researchers can closely track changes in the mussel’s environment. The data are relevant to how marine organisms respond to climate change. This research was featured in the New York Times. Very impressive!
