Dr. Kristen Hogan awarded the UofSC Integrity Award

The Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity recognizes that faculty members and instructors play a significant role in developing students of integrity. To honor this contribution, the Office presents the UofSC Integrity Award to a distinguished faculty member or instructor. Recipients of this award proactively and effectively implement a culture of academic integrity, show care and concern both for students and their development, and promote the Carolinian Creed.

Dr. Kristen Hogan is an outstanding teacher who actively promotes a culture of integrity in her classes. From the first class session, Dr. Hogan discusses the honor code and the Carolinian Creed with her students and asks them to sign an integrity contract. She collaborated with the Office of Academic Integrity and University Libraries to create detailed resources that help students build strong research, source evaluation and citation skills. Kristen also talks frankly with students about the consequences of academic dishonesty and works closely with the Office of Academic Integrity to report violations and provide appropriate follow-up. Both as a faculty member and BIOL 101L coordinator, Kristen is successfully building a community of students who value and practice academic integrity. Congrats Kristen!
