Honorable Nicholas Trott

 

Nicholas Trott was born on January 19, 1963 in London, England. He served as the Attorney General of Bermud and also as the Attorney General and Naval Officer in South Carolina. He was the Proprietor’s Deputy on Council, Secretary and Register of the Province, and an elected member of the Lower House of Assembly. He was the Judge of Vice Admiralty and became Chief Justice of South Carolina in 1703. He began the codification of South Carolina law shortly after he became Chief Justice, which became the first book printed in South Carolina in 1736.

He graduated from Merchant Taylors School in London and  was later admitted to Inner Temple in 1695.
