Events

The College of Nursing stays connected with Gamecock Nurses worldwide through events held year-round. These gatherings bring together alumni, students, faculty, and professional partners to share experiences and strengthen our community.

Each fall, the College of Nursing hosts its largest alumni event - Party on the Patio. This event brings alumni together to recognize three outstanding Gamecock nurses for their accomplishments in the healthcare field. 2025 Photo Album

The Night Shift is the College of Nursing's alumni happy hour event. These happy hour events allow alumni to network, enjoy drinks, and catch up with nursing friends.

The Ask an Alum series offers current students the opportunity to connect with Gamecock nurses across different specialties. This program allows students to ask questions and gain insights beyond the classroom and clinical settings. 

This is a virtual monthly session. Each month, a different topic and/or specialty will be discussed:

Are you healthcare expert for one of these categories? Contact Director of Alumni Affairs, Tyler DiPalma to participate. 

The Nursing Mentorship Program is designed to help students navigate the nursing profession by pairing them with an experienced Gamecock nurse alum. Virtual and in-person opportunities available. 

The nine-week program concludes with an in-person mixer allowing mentors and mentees to meet and network with other groups.

Applications are open for Fall 2026.

Each year the College of Nursing hosts a Nurses Week event during National Nurses Week to celebrate the Power of Gamecock Nursing.

CONversations for Continued Learning engages alumni and friends of the college with continuing education sessions to support lifelong learning. These sessions will expand clinical knowledge, while providing participants with free continuing education credits. 

Sessions last 1-2 hours and registrants will need to attend the entire session to obtain the credit hour(s).

  • August 6 - Health Policy & Politics with Stephanie Burgess ('03 PhD, '83 MN '75 BSN). Registration open.
  • September 3 - Midwifery with Jennifer Baumstark, DNP, APRN, CNM, FACNM.
  • October 1 - Workplace Violence with Kelly Russin ('21 DNP, '18 MSN, '10 BSN).
  • November 5 - AI in Nursing with Carolyn Harmon ('22 PhD)

During the Gamecock football season, the College of Nursing hosts a Cockaboose tailgate. All alumni, donors, and friends of the college are invited to tailgate with us. Food and drink provided.
