We need your help in keeping everyone healthy and safe. In accordance with UofSC,
local, state, and fitness industry guidelines, Campus Recreation has made the following
changes to promote safety during this unprecedented time:
A CarolinaCard will be required for entry of all patrons.
Anyone (18 and older) with a Blatt membership may utilize the STWFC until August 16.
No guests or guest passes will be permitted.
Public Health Directives
Face coverings are required to enter the facility, and in all non-activity spaces.
Maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance. Multiple physical distance grids (6’x10’
matrix) have been established to clearly define personal workout spaces.
Failure to comply with public health directives will result in immediate loss of access
and may result in additional university action.
All employees and patrons are required to complete our screening survey and temperature check prior to entering the STWFC.
Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 are not limited to but do include cough, shortness
of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell,
a temperature greater than 100⁰F.

or have recently been exposed to someone who has tested positive or is showing these
Patrons should wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water before using
equipment and disinfect equipment before and after use.
The entry system is touch free and requires your CarolinaCard.
Capacities are reduced throughout activity spaces.
Traffic flow patterns have been marked throughout the facility.
Increased and thorough cleaning are conducted using an approved hospital grade disinfectant.
Increased sanitization stations will be available.
Plexi-glass barriers will be installed where appropriate.
Reservations are required for the STWFC Weight Floor, Group X Classes, Climbing Wall,
Athletic Training Clinic, and Indoor Pool lanes

No items will be available for check-out from Equipment Issue.
Personal bags should be put in the locker room. They MUST be placed in cubbies if brought into the fitness space.
Personal items brought into activity spaces will be limited to:
Water bottles, swim googles/cap, bath and or sweat towel, and small personal fitness
items (yoga mat, jump rope, weight belt, lifting straps, etc.)
No sporting equipment will be allowed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Re-opening guidelines issued by the state of South Carolina, require both temperature
and screening. Because of the high volume of commonly touched surfaces and other risks
in using a fitness center, it was determined that UofSC would adhere to this parameter.
As Gamecocks we pledge to demonstrate concern for others. Put simply, we wear face
coverings to protect others. While at the PEC a face covering is required in all non-activity spacesand encouraged during your work-out depending on activity type/intensity.
We are requiring all patrons to present and scan their CarolinaCard for entry to provide
a touch free access into the facility.
We use Nyco’s Sani-Spritz Spray. This product is one-step, hospital grade, cleaning,
disinfectant. It is effective on hard and soft surfaces and safe for skin contact.
In addition to the patron cleaning that should happen before and after use of any
equipment, Campus Rec staff will thoroughly clean all touch points before opening
each day and will be cleaned continuously throughout the day. All cleaning procedures
will be tracked for assurance.
Our hand sanitizer has 62% alcohol content.

To minimize contact surfaces, UofSC has decided that only bottle fillers are available.
Campus Rec has dedicated resources and staff to other areas to optimize the total
recreation experience, including access to the STWFC indoor pool.
State and UofSC guidelines recommend physical distancing. It is in the best interest
of the UofSC community that all individuals strive to maintain a physical distance
of at least 6 feet while working out indoors. The fitness areas at the PEC have been
modified to promote this guideline. The use of safety straps is highly recommended,
and we ask that you alter weights or exercise type to maintain safety.
The state of South Carolina discourages sharing equipment. As such individuals must
clean each piece of equipment before and after use—whether performing a single set
or a “superset”. To aid in physical distancing multiple grids have been established
throughout the fitness areas to identify a 6’x10’ workout space for each individual.
Academic Classes will be given priority in Blatt PEC. Campus Recreation will operate
in Blatt PEC Monday - Friday from 5 - 10 p.m.
Users with a membership to STWFC will have continued access with an Early Bird membership.
Those that did not have a membership will be able to purchase an Early Bird membership.

To optimize mitigation strategies, UofSC is currently restricting visitation for individuals
In efforts to stay healthy and help stop the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses,
we encourage everyone to follow the 3 C’s.
COVER – cough (or sneeze) into the crook of your elbow or into a tissue that is immediately
CLEAN – Frequently wash your hands with warm water and soap for 20 seconds – about
the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice.
CONTAIN – Stay home when you are sick until you have been free of fever for 72 hours
without the use of fever-reducing medications.
Individuals are encouraged to make decisions regarding personal safety. Gloves are
not required and, in some cases, may not be recommended. We have hand sanitizer dispensers
available throughout the facility. Additionally, we have sanitizing wipes and disinfectant
sprays for touch points throughout the facility.
Other than modifications to increase safety or service, or changes made to align with
university or state guideline modifications, most changes will be in place for the
summer and many are anticipated to be in place throughout the fall semester. Continue
to monitor our website for updates.
Freeweights, selectorized strength, and cardio equipment are available. Some equipment
has been relocated or eliminated to provide sufficient physical distancing.
Day use lockers have been redistributed to maintain as much physical distance as possible.
Select showers are available, spaced to ensure physical distancing.
