Capstone Scholars

Standards and Requirements

Capstone Scholars are driven, and we offer a variety of tools and support services to help keep them on the path that leads to achieving their academic goals.

Requirement Deadlines

In order to fulfill the mission and vision of the Capstone Scholars program, we expect you to complete these minimum requirements each semester. Your requirements completion forms are due on the last day of class. No deadline extensions or exceptions will be granted.

Semester Requirements

Stay in Good Academic Standing

We require that you maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher, which is tracked by our office at the end of each semester.

Challenge Yourself

Attending college is full of opportuities to grow, and this is rarely done without taking a risk or facing some kind of obstacle. By showing us your personal challenge, you'll be identifying these moments and adding them to your saga. Take on a new skill, overcome a fear and test your limits!

Community Impact

In the spirit of helping students get the most out of their time at UofSC, we expect you to go out of your way to make a positive impact on the various communities within and around campus.

Service is a great means of making this impact, and the Leadership and Service Center is a great place to start, as well as our in-house service opportunities spreadsheet and Service Team.

Capstone Consultation

Building relationships with mentors and professionals can greatly enhance your professional success. You will meet at least once a semester with a staff member to define goals, talk about life as a student and learn more about different offices and organizations at USC.

Other Requirements

University 101

We require you to enroll in a University 101 section during your first semester at USC, preferably a section created specifically for Capstone Scholars.

University Scholarship

Capstone Scholars must also have a university scholarship in order to be in our program. Please note that these scholarships are granted and revoked independently of our office.
