Financial Aid and Scholarships

    Cost and Aid

Our counselors are often asked two major questions: One, how much does it cost? And two, how can I afford it? The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships is here to help you weigh the costs and benefits of this major investment and how a financial aid package may make it affordable.

Costs and Benefits of a South Carolina Degree

Regardless of the degree you seek, financial aid can make your college education affordable. Every degree program is different, which means that cost for each student may vary depending on the options you choose. But with the right tools, we can help you estimate your costs in order to make an informed decision about your investment — an investment in your future at the University of South Carolina. That same investment could also reap tax benefits. Eligible students who meet the qualifications for the newly increased South Carolina Tuition Tax Credit may be able to claim up to $1,500 in tuition tax credit courtesy of the South Carolina General Assembly.

    Estimate Your Cost to Attend

Whether you are a South Carolina resident or a nonresident, living on campus or off campus, we’ve pulled together a list of common expenses to help you estimate your costs. For a more comprehensive assessment based on your unique circumstances, including some basic financial information, you can also use tools like our Net Price Calculator.

    Manage Your Costs

There are different types of financial aid to consider as you evaluate the level of support you will need, including grants, loans, scholarships and student employment. Whether you choose to pursue just one of these options or combine several financial aid resources, the process begins with learning more about all of your options and completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid application.
