Financial Aid and Scholarships

Summer Financial Aid

Summer at Carolina is tailored to meet your academic goals on your own timeline. To assist you in meeting your goals, we offer financial aid through the summer as well for students enrolled in a degree-seeking program. For financial aid purposes, each module of summer (Maymester, Summer I, and Summer II) is combined into one single term.

The summer is considered the end of the academic year. To apply for summer aid, you must have a current year FAFSA on file. For example, if you are attending Summer 2020, you should have a 2019-20 FAFSA on file for the year.

In addition to the FAFSA, a Summer Financial Aid Application is required. The application is available on Self Service Carolina (SSC) beginning April 6. Because of the compressed time frames for the summer, our office must adhere to application deadlines. The priority application deadline to complete the application is May 1. The Summer Financial Aid Application will be removed from SSC on June 1. Requests for summer aid after June 1 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Funding and Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for most aid, you must be enrolled in at least six hours. On occasion, there may be limited funding for need based awards. Students who apply early for summer aid are automatically considered for these awards until funds are no longer available. If you were eligible for a Pell Grant for 2019-20, you may be eligible to receive additional Pell Grant funds during the summer. The financial aid office will determine your eligibility.

Important: If your planned enrollment involves any of the following for the summer, additional information will be requested.

  • Study Abroad
  • Concurrent Enrollment
  • National Student Exchange
  • Transient Study
