Important facts to note:

• If you are eligible for Cap Gap OPT, you will receive a new I-20 but you will not receive a new EAD card.
• If your H-1B application has been selected, please email us to request a new Cap-Gap I-20. The subject of your email should be "Cap Gap I-20 Request." Make sure to attach the H-1B application Notice of Action receipt.
  • Please allow at least 5 business days for a response.
• Cap Gap OPT information sometimes automatically shows up on the SEVIS record. But sometimes it does not. If your Cap Gap OPT information does not automatically show up on your SEVIS record, we must have the Notice of Action Receipt to apply the Cap Gap OPT to your SEVIS record.
