Harvey Starr to be honored by ISA Section on Political Demography and Geography

Harvey Starr has been named as the International Studies Association Section on Political Demography and Geography’s 2016-17 Distinguished Scholar. He will be honored at the "Distinguished Scholar Roundtable-- Harvey Starr" at the 2017 International Studies Association Annual Meeting in Baltimore (February 22-25).

The Sections of the ISA have been created as thematic sub-units which are organized around specific areas of research interest. ISA notes that the Political Demography and Geography Section was developed to investigate the “interactions between populations, geography and politics.”  The Section stresses multidisciplinary and the crossing of disciplinary boundaries between political scientists, demographers, geographers and economists. Harvey Starr is being honored for his theoretical and empirical work on spatiality, geopolitics, territory, borders, and diffusion processes, as well as his leadership in bringing attention to the importance of the spatial dimension in the study of international phenomena.
