College of Nursing

Supporting the next generation of caregivers

Mitzi and Frederic Golod of Richmond, VA have established The Jane Kathryn Littlejohn Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund in honor of their friend, Kathy Littlejohn. She and Mitzi were friends for over forty years, first meeting in home room at Columbia High School. They reconnected after USC when Kathy cared for Mitzi’s grandmother at Baptist Hospital. “She had ‘smiling eyes’ and a true compassion for others. We hope this gift will help others to become compassionate caregivers, as Kathy was,” stated Mitzi. They wanted to establish a lasting tribute in loving memory of Kathy, something that would celebrate the caring person she was and also the biggest Gamecock fan.

Both are graduates of USC, Frederic from the School of Business (Accounting) and Mitzi from the College of Arts and Sciences (Geology). Mitzi’s dad, H.B. Rhame, Jr, also earned a master’s degree from USC. They are annual supporters of the Darla Moore School of Business. Frederic loves photography; Mitzi cooking and gardening. They enjoy traveling, their pets and being outside.

To anyone thinking of giving to the College “This is an opportunity to help the next generation of caregivers and all they will touch. We believe in the future of nursing,” they said.
