Tools for School

Part of succeeding in academics requires being equipped with the tools necessary to succeed. Unfortunately, many of our nursing students are unable to afford these. The current pandemic has only heightened the financial burden of costs associated with basic school supplies, textbooks being a critical one. Serving as the foundational education tool, textbooks are the gateway to successful learning.

"I am a first generation student, and I am responsible for financing my education on my own. I am grateful to be a recipient of a College of Nursing scholarship. I used the scholarships to pay for items including textbooks, access cards, and other school supplies in general. It definitely has helped me in terms of stress because I don’t have to worry about finding the money to pay for those items on top of transitioning into my first real semester as an upper division student." - Daisy Noyola, BSN junior

As an advocate for the College of Nursing, we invite you take part in an exclusive giving opportunity to provide much needed support for our students.  We would like your support to help us raise $10,000 by November 24 for “Tools for School” and getting textbooks into the hands of our students, helping them turn the page to a better future.

Your contribution will have an immediate and direct impact.  To participate and invest in nursing education, donations by check can be made payable to “USC Educational Foundation” and mailed directly to the College of Nursing, 1601 Greene Street, Columbia, SC 29208. If you wish to make an online donation, please visit our giving page. Under “Colleges & Schools”, select “Nursing” and then choose “College of Nursing Reserve Fund”.

"I feel that nurses are in unique positions in which they are able to help care for patients both emotionally and physically. Receiving a financial scholarship has not only assisted with tuition/lab fees, but it has allowed me to pay for required and recommended textbooks that are used as supplements to class instruction." - Sierra Foster, BSN senior

Suggested donation amounts include $100 / $200 / $1,000. Donations of $1,000 or more will automatically enroll you as a member of the Dean’s Circle, where you will receive VIP recognition at every College of Nursing event, special recognition on the website and newsletters, and the opportunity to take part in roundtable talks with Nursing faculty and staff.

Thank you for your continued support of the College of Nursing!
