DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
Terry Dixon is director of development for the College of
Mass Communications and Information Studies. Dixon will be responsible
for seeking major gifts for the College's School of Journalism
and
Mass Communications and its School of Library and Information Science.
The college's immediate priorities include the LeConte Initiative,
a
capital campaign to relocate the School of Journalism and Mass
Communications, the "Children, Libraries and
Literacy Initiative" for increasing statewide literacy levels
and
endowing the newly established Augustus Baker Chair in Childhood
Literacy.
"I'm thrilled to be back in my hometown and eager to make
a significant impact during this important time in
the college's history," Dixon says. "Both schools have
long been
recognized and well respected for their top tier programs. Now
it's
time to realize our dream, to experience our vision ... and we
will."
Dixon received a B.A. in Communications from Winthrop University
and a M.ED. from USC. She has seventeen years experience in fund
raising, marketing and career services in the fields of higher
education and healthcare. Dixon was previously on the university
staff from 1993 to 1998 and with an area hospital foundation from
1998 to 2002. In 2003, Dixon relocated to Raleigh where she worked
contractually with a university medical
foundation. In January 2007, she returned to Columbia along with
her
husband Jimmy and son Jack. |
