The Presidential Commission on University History will host two virtual public forums
to solicit input on the renaming of Columbia campus buildings 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.
13 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct.15. Students can sign up to make a five-minute
address during either of the forums. Anyone wishing to provide input before the forums
is invited to submit comments as well.
Every week during the month of October, a random sample of students will be invited
to participate in saliva-based COVID-19 testing. Upon completion, students will receive
a special UofSC T-shirt and will be entered into drawings to win prizes.
The Tiger Burn pep rally that typically precedes the annual Carolina-Clemson game
has been canceled for this year because the game will not be played. However, students
now have the chance to enter their own designs and tongue-in-cheek eulogy for the
next tiger to burn.
Resident mentor applications for the 2021-22 academic year are open until Nov. 1.
Voting for Best of Carolina 2021 is officially open. Best of Carolina is Garnet Media's
annual publication that features the spots across campus and the city of Columbia
that our community has picked as the “best of” during an open nomination and voting
This year’s flu shots will look a little different due to COVID-19. To make sure we
can maintain physical distancing, the health center will require students, faculty
and staff to make an appointment for getting a flu shot.
Applications for new University 101 Peer Leaders are open. Students who plan to study
abroad during spring 2021 or wish to be considered for a fall interview and early
decision should apply by Oct. 20. All other candidates must apply by the regular decision
deadline on Jan. 20.
