Greg Brannon

A broadcast professional with more than 30 years in local TV news and sports entertainment, Brannon is an award-winning reporter, anchor and producer and the recipient of a Southeast Regional Emmy Award. He is a member of the faculty team that leads the journalism senior semester program.

Andy Burns

Andy Burns first came to Columbia as a morning/noon anchor and reporter at WOLO-TV. He has previous reporting experience in Charleston, the District of Columbia, Chicago and (as a traffic reporter) in New York City. He is interested in the "mini-documentary," having produced the Hidden Columbia series while at WOLO.

Kevin Hull, Ph.D.

Kevin Hull is a former television sports broadcaster who has reported live from the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup Finals and various other big (and small) sporting events. He is currently the lead instructor for the sports media programs within the college.

Rick Peterson

Rick Peterson has overseen the award-winning Carolina News program for more than two decades. As a national news feed producer on weekends for NBC News in Charlotte, he is responsible for providing compelling national news stories, with an emphasis on breaking news, to NBC affiliates. As a story producer, he has written numerous stories about major news events, including the Pulse Nightclub massacre, the George Zimmerman trial and the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

Manie Robinson

Manie Robinson

Manie Robinson is a seasoned storyteller, filmmaker and educator. He served as a sports reporter, columnist and video producer for The Greenville News and the USA Today Network. ​He was named the South Carolina Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sports Media Association in 2018 and 2019. He has won more than a dozen press association awards for video production, breaking news, enterprise reporting and opinion writing.

Lena Sadiwskyj

Lena Sadiwskyj

Sadiwskyj is a broadcast professional whose experience spans two countries, and four decades. As a network reporter and producer, she broke and covered major national and international stories, including the firing of a judge, the Reagan assassination attempt and the space shuttle disaster. For almost 30 years, Sadiwskyj has held executive management positions in newsrooms across the United States, winning multiple awards for content and leadership.

Brandon Shulleeta

Brandon Paul Shulleeta

Brandon Shulleeta has more than 15 years of journalism experience. He has won statewide and national awards for investigative reporting, data journalism and general news writing. His research interests include government corruption, local and state government, courts and crime.

Laura K. Smith, Ph.D.

Laura Smith has more than 25 years of broadcast industry and university-level teaching experience. She teaches an array of courses focusing on multi-platform news, including writing, visual storytelling, newscast production and others. Before teaching, Smith spent more than 12 years working in television, primarily local TV news.
