Membership

SCSPA has both publication and student memberships. Publications must be a member to receive critiques or participate in any of the individual competitions. Students must be members to apply for scholarships. All members receive Listserv communications with the office and other members.

Membership Information

Publications have two membership options: one year ($40) or three years ($100). Students have two levels: high school ($20) and middle school ($10). The membership year is Sept. 1 to Aug. 31.

Publication Membership ($40 – one year/$100 – three years):

  • Memberships are by publications, not by schools.
  • Publications may pay $40 to join for one year or $100 for three years.
  • Receive Scholastic Review, an annual publication highlighting winners of individual competitions in newspaper, magazine and yearbook.
  • Receive a Schopress calendar with dates of all workshops, conferences, conventions and deadlines for scholarships and awards.
  • Receive competition and conference information.
  • May participate in publication critiques and individual competitions.
  • Advisers will have access to the adviser Listserv to communicate with other publication advisers.

Student Membership (High School - $20; Middle School - $10):

  • For middle and high school students involved in their school's journalism program.
  • Great for a student's resume.
  • Eligible to apply for S.C. Journalist of the Year and SCSPA scholarships.
  • Receive information about student officer elections, competitions and scholarships.
