student’s notes on Media and Government tour of Washington
Charles Bierbauer, Dean of the College of Mass Communications and
Information Studies, took his students on a whirlwind three-day
tour of the nation's capital during Maymester classes. The thirteen
students of the Dean's "Media and Government" class were
joined by PhD candidate Chris McDonald for five days in Washington,
DC, meeting a variety of political and communications professionals
while studying how they interact.
The trip included stops at the Supreme Court, members of the South
Carolina Congressional delegation, the Democratic and Republican
National Committees, the White House, and the Pentagon.
The links on the right contain reflections (and photos) of the
trip by Brant Guillory, a graduate student in the School of Journalism
and Mass Communications. Brant is studying for a Master’s
in Mass Communications (Integrated track) and is particularly interested
in communications technology and political communications. His undergraduate
degree is in English with a concentration in writing/editing. |
