the winning holiday card and tree

Holiday Greetings from President Amiridis

December 8, 2022

Dear Carolina community,

Just six months ago, Ero and I came home to USC, and already we have made great new memories here! As we all head into our winter break, we hope you will find time to reflect on your own happy memories of the past semester and all the great work you have done to reach this point.

One of the highlights of this semester for me has been time spent getting to know so many of our USC students, faculty and staff. I have enjoyed my visits and conversations with you at your colleges, schools and workplaces, and I look forward to more time together in the months ahead.

I also enjoyed our inaugural Imagine Carolina event, where we learned so much from our undergraduate students about how to improve the student experience on campus. Some of those ideas are already taking shape as future improvements.

Two other noteworthy high points of this semester: We brought back “USC,” and let’s not forget that 31-30 win at a certain football game in November!

It’s great to be home on the Horseshoe, and this feeling is reflected well in the beautiful art created for the presidential holiday card this year. Student Emma Jackson, who is working toward a master’s degree in health administration at the Arnold School of Public Health, designed the winning card you see at the top of this message, which depicts the front door of the President’s House with welcoming holiday decorations. Congratulations to Emma, and thank you to all the talented and creative students who submitted designs for this year’s holiday card design contest.

I hope you will take time in the coming weeks to celebrate, enjoy time with family and friends, and have a safe and restful break. See you in 2023!

Happy holidays!

President Michael Amiridis
