A break in classes to celebrate our national champions

In coordination with our Student Government Association and the Office of the Provost, I have decided that classes on our Columbia campus that begin between 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. today will be canceled to allow us to celebrate the efforts and the success of our national champion Women’s Basketball team.

A special event will be held at Colonial Life Arena to welcome home our undefeated champions, and we want to give the opportunity to all members of our academic community to participate. Doors to CLA will open at 12:30 p.m., and the celebration will begin no earlier than 2 p.m.

Athletics advises that fans who want to attend this event should enter CLA via the Main Entrance and sit in Sections 101-104 and 115-118. Select concessions stands will be open. A replay of the game will show on the videoboard prior to the team’s arrival.
