What to Expect
Description of Course:
MUSC 774 is a general survey course designed to acquant (or reacquaint) students with the basic principles, instructional materials, and methodology of piano pedagogy. The courses is designed t promote basic literacy in the subject and practice of piano pedagogy in preparation for advanced coursework.
Description of Beyond the Classroom Component:
The course partners with the Columbia Music Teachers Association for an event for local pre-college pianists called the Celbration of Musical Achievements. Graduat students in the course assist with the festival for young musicians, hearing performances and writing encouraging and evaluative commentary for these pianists and their teachers.
