LLC Linguistics

The LLC Linguistics Program offers students the opportunity to tailor a major to various career goals. In addition to acquiring proficiency in one of the languages and cultures taught by the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, students learn about the scientific study of language (second language acquisition, history of language, language in society) and the use of language and cultural skills in various professions.

Whether you plan to continue study in Linguistics or go into professions with an international component like business, law, social sciences, translation, or language teaching, the Linguistics Concentration will provide a solid basis to achieving your goals.

The LLC Linguistics Program gathers faculty members who specialize in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish Linguistics. Their teaching and research are focused on a variety of topics in second language acquisition and teaching, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and language and the professions.

The USC Bulletin always has the most up-to-date information on the Major in Languages, Literatures & Cultures
