Women's and Gender Studies Awards Ceremony

The Women’s and Gender Studies program held its annual Awards Ceremony on April 25th, 2018. Family, friends, instructors, and classmates gathered to congratulate the recipients of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program's annual awards at the University of South Carolina.  In addition to the award recipients, the ceremony also celebrated this year’s graduating seniors and graduate students.

The program is pleased to announce the following award winners for 2017-2018:

  • The Arney Robinson Childs Undergraduate Student Award

    Elizabeth Poche was recognized with the award for her record of extraordinary achievement and contributions to Women’s and Gender Studies Classes and exemplary commitment to women’s issues.

  • The Harriott Hampton Faucette Award 

    Chigozie Nkwonta and Jennifer Martin both received individual awards in recognition of their superior graduate research that creates new knowledge through the lens of gender and the prism of diversity.

  • Emily Thompson Student Award 

    Jillian Hinderliter was awarded the honor in recognition of the best graduate student research paper in women’s health.

  • Women’s and Gender Studies Teaching Award

    Dr. Emily Mann received the award in recognition of her outstanding teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program.
