The Arnold School of Public Health is seeking nominations for its annual student awards that will be presented at the 2018 Hooding Ceremony at the Koger Center. The School recognizes the academic, service, and leadership qualities of its students through two awards: Jeffrey Keith Mattison Outstanding Student Achievement Award and the Doctoral Achievement Award.
In remembrance of Jeffrey Keith Mattison, who died two weeks into his graduate program of study in 1987, the Outstanding Student Achievement Award recognizes the graduating master’s degree student (expected to graduate in May, August or December 2018) who exemplifies Mattison’s qualities through a combination of service, leadership and/or personal example. Important aspects of this award include a student’s interest and dedication to public health through service activities as well as personal characteristics that would contribute to having an impact on public health. Students, faculty, and staff members may nominate students for this award.
The Doctoral Achievement Award is presented to the nominee (expected to graduate in May, August, or December 2018) who has demonstrated academic achievement, professional promise in creating meaningful and relevant research and/or practical application in the field of public health, and potential leadership and service to the community or to the field of public health.
To nominate a student (committee members may not nominate), please submit the appropriate nomination form (Jeffrey Keith Mattison Outstanding Student Achievement Award [pdf]; Doctoral Achievement Award [pdf]) by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 to:
