April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the campaign theme for 2015 is “It’s Time to Act. Safer Campuses. Brighter Futures. Prevent Sexual Violence.”

Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention & Prevention wants to emphasize the importance of consent, acknowledge accountable bystanders and raise awareness about sexual assault and violence.

SAVIP will be hosting events throughout the month to promote awareness.

Check out these events on campus:

  • Sexual Assault Awareness Month Kickoff: Live T-shirt Painting
    April 1, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Greene Street

  • Get Yourself Tested Carnival
    April 2, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Greene Street

  • National Denim Day
April 22: Observed each year at USC, Denim Day began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the judges believed that the victim's jeans were too tight to have been removed without her consent. Wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault.
