UofSC alumnus Darius Rucker will perform a free concert for students to celebrate the women's basketball team's national championship.
Rucker, the acclaimed solo country artist and lead singer of the band Hootie and the Blowfish, suggested the concert in a tweet April 1 after South Carolina beat Louisville for a spot in the championship game. The Gamecocks went on to defeat UConn 64-49 to take their second national title in five years.
Students can sign up for a lottery to win a ticket to the concert, which will be held April 24 at Colonial Life Arena.
- All University of South Carolina students, regardless of campus, can request one free student ticket and will receive an email with details on submitting a request.
- Requests will be honored in the order in which they are received and those students receiving a ticket will be contacted on April 19 about ticket delivery.
- Doors will open at 7 p.m. for the concert.
