Tour Tips

As you plan for your upcoming visit, keep these tips in mind to help make your time on campus enjoyable and worry free.

Tour Requests and Confirmations

As soon as we have processed your tour request, you will receive a confirmation email which will include important details about your visit. Review your appointment list and plan to arrive about a half-hour before your first appointment. Please notify the Visitor Center as early as possible at 800-922-9755 if you will need special assistance while you are on campus.

Please notify the Visitor Center as early as possible at 800-922-9755 if you cannot make any of your appointments or if your plans change.

Finding the Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is in McKissick, located on the Historic Horseshoe. Directions from Google will bring you to the Visitor Center parking lot at the intersection of Bull Street and Pendleton Street. Online maps are notoriously inconsistent. To ensure you get where you need to be, download and print our driving and parking instructions [pdf] or watch our step-by-step parking video for accessing Visitor Center parking and overflow parking options.

Where to Park

On weekdays, you can check with the parking attendant in the cul-de-sac and parking area near the intersection of Bull Street and Pendleton Street for complimentary parking. Please do not park in the Pendleton Street parking garage.

What to Wear

Check the weather and dress appropriately. Your campus tour will include a presentation by one of our admissions counselors followed by a student-led walking tour. The walking portion can last up to two hours, so please wear comfortable shoes and pack an umbrella in case of rain.

While You're in Town

If you're planning to stay in town for a while, consult our calendar for events and check out Explore Columbia for attractions and accommodations. Remember to ask about special rates for UofSC visitors when making your hotel reservations.
