UofSC’s Supplemental Instruction program has been named the 2016 Outstanding SI Program by the International Center for Supplemental Instruction. The award is given biannually to recognize excellence in supplemental instruction.
“I congratulate the Student Success Center team for the outstanding service delivery that both brings recognition to our university and helps our students achieve their college dreams,” says Dennis Pruitt, vice president for student affairs, vice provost and dean of students.
Supplemental Instruction provides course-specific support to undergraduate students. Sessions are facilitated by peer leaders, undergraduates who have previously taken and succeeded in the courses and who have undergone thorough training. It’s just one of the Student Success Center programs to earn a national award recently.
“We have been working hard to create and maintain an outstanding Student Success Center, and we are very proud that we have been recognized for it,” says Eric Moschella, director of the Student Success Center.
In the last two years, the center’s tutoring program, Sophomore Initiative and Success Connect programs all have earned national honors.
