Alison Hughes has been named the new director of the Office of New Student Orientation at the University of South Carolina. Hughes will be responsible for the programs and events designed to welcome new undergraduate students and their families to South Carolina and to help them transition to and prepare for success at the university.
Hughes, who will begin work March 21, succeeds Bethany Naser, who will be transitioning out of her role.
Hughes comes to South Carolina from Florida State University, where she was the director of student and family programs and an associate dean in the Department of Student Support and Transitions. Previously, she was the assistant director of parent and family programs at the University of Arkansas.
Hughes earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Auburn University and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Alabama.
