Allyn Powell is the new director of finance for the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support. Beginning Feb. 1, Powell will provide guidance, monitoring and analysis in budgeting and finance for the departments comprising Student Affairs and Academic Support. She will be responsible for $100 million in budgets for more than 30 departments and five responsibility units in the division.

Powell has 19 years of experience in state government, with extensive experience in both operating and capital budgeting. She has held leadership positions in budgeting and finance at the South Carolina House of Representatives, Executive Budget Office, Department of Administration, Office of Regulatory Staff and Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office.

Powell earned her master’s in physics from the College of William and Mary and her bachelor’s in physics from the University of South Carolina Honors College.
