Marc Shook wins national award for senior-level student affairs professionals

Marc Shook, dean of students, deputy Title IX coordinator and interim university assistant vice president for civil rights and Title IX, won the AVP/Senior-Level Student Affairs Professional Award, which will be presented March 22 at the NASPA awards ceremony in Baltimore.

This award is the highest honor NASPA, the national professional association for student affairs, gives to an associate vice president or senior-level professional. Recipients are recognized for their commitment to the profession, including developing programs that address the needs of students and creating a campus environment that promotes student learning and development.

Shook joined the University of South Carolina in 2018 and is responsible for the Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity, the Student Care and Outreach Team, Student Disability Resource Center, Substance Abuse and Prevention Education and withdrawal services.

His record of institutional-level leadership includes serving as interim Title IX coordinator, co-chair of the 2020 Summer Operations and Campus Return and co-chair of the University Strategic Planning Group for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
