Student Affairs and Academic Support

New name, location, expanded services for student support office

The Office of Student Advocacy — formerly the Office of Undergraduate Ombuds Services — has moved to Russell House West Wing Suite 115.

What it is: Student Advocacy staff help students understand university resources, programs and policies so that they can solve problems and make informed choices about their college careers.

  • They also help faculty members support and refer students to appropriate services, and they identify opportunities to improve policies and practices to enhance the student experience.

What’s next: Later this fall, the office will launch Ask USC, the central resource for students and parents who have questions about USC or need help navigating the university.

  • Staff will be available via online chat, email, phone and in person so that students and parents can find help when, where and how they want it.

What they’re saying: “The Office of Student Advocacy’s new name, location and expanded services give students easy-to-find, comprehensive support that they can access wherever they are. These efforts reflect our student-centeredness at the University of South Carolina. We’re listening to students and creating places, spaces and resources that meet their needs and respond to their requests. Together, we are innovating to build an even better student experience at USC.” — Rex Tolliver, vice president for Student Affairs and Academic Support
