Bio

Jessie joined the Office in November 2022 and her primary focus is to foster partnerships across campus and in the Columbia community. She strives to be a connector for ideas and people. Jessie's favorite thing is talking with passionate people who want to make their community a better place!

Prior to joining our Office, Jessie worked for the Capstone Scholars Program at USC for 7 years where she designed and facilitated their leadership development programs. After noticing how often student leaders put self-care on the back burner, she looked into supplementing their programs with wellness initiatives. She became fascinated with the connection of how the well-being dimensions and the fundamentals of sustainability overlapped (eg: zooming in on an individual level for personal finance and zooming out to economic sustainability). This made these abstract concepts more relatable, and students could easily catch on and immediately apply sustainability strategies to their own lives! She knew she wanted to have more conversations like this and jumped at the chance to join the Office of Sustainability staff!

Jessie is from Scranton, PA and likes to rewatch The Office for glimpses of her hometown. She is an avid traveler and has been to 17 countries in the last 10 years. She is happy to give advice on finding travel deals and packing efficiently. Outside of work, Jessie enjoys exploring Columbia. Her favorites are Riverbanks Zoo & Aquarium, Columbia Museum of Art, and Soda City Farmers Market. She is always looking to try a new local coffee shop and she would love to learn how to crochet.
