The Sustainable Carolina Garden produces organically grown foods while regenerating soil and building biodiversity. No pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers are used. Students sell these foods at the local farmers market and to USC's dining services. Surplus is given to volunteers and to local food pantries.

Get Involved 

The Sustainable Carolina Garden offers opportunities for students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to volunteer, attend events and make fresh, local produce part of their everyday lives.


Volunteer In the Garden
Sign up for volunteer hours to help our Garden Guides anticipate each shift and provide a meaningful experience. For groups of five or more, signing up for volunteer hours is required a week in advance. Signing up is not necessary if it is just you and/or a friend, but it is recommended. We look forward to seeing you in the garden!

Spring 2020 Garden Volunteer Hours*
Please contact the SCG Garden Manager, Andrew O’Flaherty, at if you plan to attend any of these shifts. These hours are scheduled for Tuesday, January 21 - Friday, January 24.

  • Tuesday: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.

*Permanent Spring 2020 Garden Hours will be posted January 27, 2020.

We accept several interns each year to help with garden management, marketing and more, through our Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program.
