Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures

Germany

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures provides three ongoing opportunities to study in Germany that fit any timeline. A two week MayMester course, a month-long language study in historic Lutherstadt-Wittenberg, and the semester or year-long cultural and study program in Bamberg, now in its 25th year.

You don't need to speak any German to take advantage of this study abroad program to the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. This location is a leader, even in Germany, in renewable energy where every second kilowatt hour is generated from wind, sun, or biomass. During the program you'll have the chance to visit sustainability and cultural sites around the state and in Berlin and to collaborate on a sustainability project in a local high school.

This summer program will take you to the Institut für die Deutsche Sprache und Kultur in Martin-Lutherstadt-Wittenberg to study the German language and contemporary culture. In addition to completing 6 credit hours, you'll also participate in organized weekend and day excursions.

This program focuses on the humanities and social sciences and is a great fit for anyone studying both German and business, political science, history, psychology, English, or philosophy. We recommend you've completed three years of college-level German courses before applying.
