Executive Advisory Council

The USC College of Nursing Executive Advisory Council serves as engaged advocates who are committed to increasing resources that advance nursing education by building positive lifelong relationships with alumni, donors and the community.

Council Members

  • Beth Bernstein

    Beth Bernstein

    Bernstein is a Democratic member of the S.C. House of Representatives. She is also a partner with Bernstein and Bernstein Attorneys at Law. She is an alumna of the USC School of Law and the University of Georgia.

  • Cheryl Bullard

    Cheryl Bullard, J.D., BSN

    Bullard is deputy general counsel and chief public health counsel for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. She earned her BSN and J.D. degrees from the University of South Carolina.

  • Jeanne Cavanaugh

    Jeanne Cavanaugh, MN, RN

    Cavanaugh is an alumna of the USC College of Nursing, where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing. She is the director of clinical partnerships at the college. She is a founding member of the Executive Advisory Council.

  • Stacy Collier

    Stacy Collier, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, CPHQ

    Collier is the chief nursing officer for KershawHealth in Camden, S.C.  She is a ’97 BSN and ’00 MSN alumna of the USC College of Nursing. She is a recipient of the college's Outstanding Nurse Alumna Award. Collier is Chair of the Executive Advisory Council.

    Brenna DeLaine, MD, MBA, CPE

    DeLaine is the medical director for prior authorization for community and state at UnitedHealth Group. She is a multi-state licensed physician and has volunteered her services with the Columbia's Free Clinic and the Richland County Healthcare Center in Fairfield, S.C.

  • Tricia Eddy

    Tricia Eddy

    Eddy is an alumna of the USC College of Nursing. After taking time to raise her family, Eddy is re-entering the nursing field and is interested in areas such as gaps in geriatric coverage and advocating for the elderly.

  • Rozalynn Goodwin

    Rozalynn Goodwin, FACHE

    Goodwin is vice president for engagement for the South Carolina Hospital Association. She is a graduate of Leadership Columbia and serves on boards for United Way of the Midlands, Life Point and Right Direction Church International. Goodwin received her MHA from the University of South Carolina.

  • Jay Hamm

    Jay Hamm, MNA, RN, FACHE

    Hamm is the acute care executive at Palmetto Health Richland. He is an alumnus of the USC College of Nursing and holds degrees in biology and health administration, also from USC.

  • Ann Henry

    Ann Henry

    Henry is a founding member of the USC College of Nursing Executive Advisory Council and served as its first president. She is an alumna of the University of Mississippi with a BA in Education.

  • Eileen Leaphart

    Eileen Leaphart, MN, RN

    Leaphart is a retired associate professor from the USC College of Nursing. She is a '71 BSN and '75 MN alumna of the college. She previously worked in various roles at the Medical College of Georgia and Mercer University.

  • Gary Lee

    Gary Lee

    Lee is an executive territory manager for Medtronic. He is a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. Lee is an alumnus of the University of South Carolina.

  • Brenda Nauful

    Brenda Nauful, CRNA, RNC, EdD

    Nauful received her BSN and MSN from the USC College of Nursing, and her MEd and EdD from the USC College of Education. Her certifications are in the fields of newborn and perinatal nursing.

  • Terry Peace

    Terry Peace

    Peace is the senior vice president of the group and individual division at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. She has a passion in improving the health of women and children. Peace received her nursing degree from USC Upstate.

  • Marshall Prince

    Marshall Prince, J.D.

    Prince is an assistant United States attorney at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina. He received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina. He is on the Board of Trustees at Newberry College and is a member of various school and church groups.

  • BJ Roof

    Betty Joyce (B.J.) Roof, ADN, BSN, MN

    Roof is a three-time alumna from the USC College of Nursing. She is a founding member of the college's Alumni Council and received the college’s Outstanding Nurse Alumna Award in 2012.

  • Carolyn Swinton

    Carolyn Swinton, RN, MN, NEA-BC, FACHE

    Swinton is chief nursing officer for Palmetto Health. She has served in a number of clinical and leadership roles in her 26 years in nursing. She is a recipient of the Amy V. Cockcroft Excellence in Leadership and Palmetto Gold Awards for nursing.

  • Joyce Winkler

    Joyce Winkler, RN, MPH

    Winkler is nurse consultant at Eau Claire Cooperative Health Centers, Inc. She is a ’75 BSN alumna of the USC College of Nursing.

  • Cynthia Winston

    Cynthia Winston, RN, MA, BSN

    Winston is director of nursing for the Palmetto Health USC Medical Group. She received her BSN from USC Upstate in 2003 and her master's degree in nursing administration from the College of Nursing in December 2017.

  • Karen Worthy

    Karen Worthy, PhD, MPH, RN

    Worthy is a clinical assistant professor at the USC College of Nursing. She has received five degrees from the University of South Carolina. She has 18 years of experience in nursing.
