CON Student Ambassador

This two-year program offers selected students the chance to represent the College of Nursing and engage in personal and professional development opportunities designed to enhance their BSN program experience.

Responsibilities

With support from Student Affairs, CON Student Ambassadors help promote the College of Nursing located on our Columbia and West Columbia campuses. They serve as an informal resource to prospective BSN students and their families, while gaining valuable experience in communication, networking, and other leadership skills.

Ambassadors can expect to:

  • Attend an orientation session each year.
  • Serve (1) two-hour block once each week at the Student Affairs desk located at the Williams-Brice Building (new Ambassadors) or the Clinical Education Building (returning Ambassadors) to provide informal tours for visiting families.
  • Attend 2-4 professional development events each academic year.
  • Attend a Graduation with Leadership Distinction workshop.
  • Reflect on each professional development opportunity throughout the semester and on the Ambassador experience at the conclusion of each semester.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to the college related to recruitment, orientation, and nursing student programming.

Eligibility

The program is available to to Pre-Nursing students only. Students must have completed BIOL 243/L, BIOL 244/L, CHEM 102, and NURS 112 with a Progression GPA of 3.7 to be eligible.

Enhance your professional network and build your professional and leadership skills by pursuing Graduation with Leadership Distinction (GLD) in Professional and Civic Engagement. Participation in this Beyond the Classroom Engagement will be recorded in student My USC Experience records.
