Stroke researcher earns $11 million NIH grant

University of South Carolina professor Julius Fridriksson has been awarded an $11.1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to research stroke recovery and work to improve the lives and communication skills of patients after they suffer strokes. Fridriksson, a professor in the Arnold School of Public Health, studies how a person’s brain recovers from a stroke.

UofSC chosen to host Shakespeare's First Folio

The University of South Carolina will host a traveling exhibit of William Shakespeare’s First Folio – the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s works published in 1623 that includes 36 of his plays including “The Tempest,” “Macbeth” and “As You Like It.” “First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare” is a national traveling exhibition of the Shakespeare First Folio, one of the world’s most treasured books. In 2016, the Folger Shakespeare Library, in partnership with Cincinnati Museum Center and the American Library Association, will tour a First Folio of Shakespeare to all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.
