The University of South Carolina is expected to award 3,154 degrees systemwide as part of its December commencement ceremonies.
Commencement ceremonies begin Thursday (Dec. 11) for system campuses and culminate in the main ceremony at Colonial Life Arena on Monday (Dec. 15) beginning at 2 p.m.
That ceremony features graduates from associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and professional degree programs across the USC system. The university is expected to award 2,194 degrees to students from the Columbia campus, including those from graduate and professional degree programs.
December graduates from USC’s system campuses include: 427 from USC Upstate, 316 from USC Aiken, 107 from USC Beaufort, 49 from Sumter, 38 from Lancaster, 15 from Salkehatchie and 8 from Union.
USC President Michael Amiridis will deliver remarks to graduates at the ceremony on Dec. 15.
There will be increased vehicle traffic during commencement around the arena and Koger Center. General parking will be in Discovery Garage (821 Park St.) or in one of three surface lots: FS4 (816 Greene St.), AD16 (650 Gadsden St.) and Devine West (722 Devine St.).
Disabled parking will be in the GS4 lot (816 Greene St.).

In addition, the university’s doctoral hooding ceremony will take place at the Koger Center at 10 a.m. on Dec. 15 with professor Jeff Twiss delivering remarks. Twiss is a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences and serves as the associate dean of research for the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences.
For those who cannot attend the commencement and hooding ceremonies, the Koger Center event will be livestreamed via YouTube. The Colonial Life Arena event will be livestreamed via Facebook.
