Campus life is getting an upgrade this fall. Over the summer, the University of South Carolina’s Business Affairs introduced new technology, added Nike Gamecock merchandise to campus stores, expanded dining options and enhanced campus services, all aimed at making everyday life at USC more enjoyable.
Here's a look at what's new on campus before the Fall 2026 semester begins.
Your CarolinaCard is now just a tap away
One of the biggest changes this fall is the launch of Mobile CarolinaCard.
Students, faculty and staff can now add their official CarolinaCard to a smartphone or compatible smartwatch, making it easier to access campus services without carrying a physical card. The mobile credential provides the same functionality as the traditional CarolinaCard, allowing users to enter residence halls and campus buildings, make purchases, check out library materials and access other campus services with a simple tap.
Nike arrives at USC campus stores
Gamecock fans will also notice a new look in campus stores.
On July 1, the university officially began its 10-year partnership with Nike, making the brand the official outfitter for all 21 Gamecock athletics programs. Campus retailers now offer officially licensed Nike Gamecock apparel and merchandise, giving fans even more ways to show their Carolina pride.
New dining options across the university
Carolina Food Co. is expanding dining options with several new concepts throughout the university, including a beloved Columbia favorite.
Groucho's Deli, a South Carolina staple for more than 80 years, is coming to campus this fall. Located in the Humanities Building, the popular sandwich shop will offer students another convenient spot to grab lunch, study with friends or enjoy one of its signature sandwiches.
Russell House welcomes a variety of new eateries, including Cola City Yogurt, where guests can build their own frozen yogurt creations, as well as Callie's Hot Little Biscuits, serving Southern favorites alongside La Colombe coffee. Crust & Leaf brings made-to-order sandwiches and salads while the Food Lab continues its rotating culinary concepts with Fresh Ginger, featuring Southeast Asian cuisine, as well as Republic of Spice, showcasing Indian-inspired dishes.
Elsewhere on campus, students can grab sushi and poke bowls from Hissho at Colloquium Café, snacks and essentials at the new Gamecock General convenience store in the Honors Residence Hall or coffee from Caribou Coffee at Counselors' Café in the School of Law.
Carolina Food Co. is also expanding its restaurant row program with several new food truck partners featuring locally-owned businesses: Sparkle Pop, The Smokin' Pot and Palmetto Pita.
Meal delivery is becoming even more convenient as robot delivery service expands to additional residence halls and campus communities on the west side of USC.
Catering options have grown as well. Faculty, staff and student organizations can now choose from additional national brands, including Qdoba and Dunkin', alongside offerings from USC's food truck partners.
Students, faculty and staff can purchase a Fall Meal Plan through Self Service Carolina by Aug. 24, providing access to many of the university's newest dining locations.
A better USC experience
Whether it's tapping into a residence hall with Mobile CarolinaCard, picking up Nike Gamecock gear before a game or discovering a new favorite lunch spot, this fall's updates offer new ways to make the most of life at USC.
