Preston Residential College

Literature and Arts Society

Our students enrich their community by following their passion for the creative arts and cultivating opportunities for others to do the same.

The Literary and Arts Society hosts a variety of events, including the annual Slam 'n' Jam talent show, and a tour of the Special Collections at the Thomas Cooper Library. The society also helps to create our own literary journal, Bellwether. The group is guided by the Literature and Arts Society Constitution [pdf].

Meet Our Student Leaders

Sarah Mielke

Sarah Mielke, Editor-in-Chief

Sarah Mielke is a junior studying geological science and is originally from Eagle, Idaho! She enjoys reading, antiquing, singing, and rock collecting. Sarah’s oldest sister instilled a large passion for literature in her and is the person who inspired her to step into the position of vice president this year. Sarah is most looking forward to planning the book club and already has some great ideas for this semester’s books. This is Sarah’s third year living in Preston where she was previously involved with Y-IMPACT and the Preston Mentoring Program. She can’t wait to meet everyone and share her passion for minerals, books, and art!
