PeopleSoft University Financial System

New Era Begins as PeopleSoft Goes Live

The finance portion of PeopleSoft is now live, ushering in a new era of streamlined business process management and employee self-service for the university system.

Employees can now visit finance.ps.sc.edu and sign in using their Network username and password.

The launch marks a historic achievement for the university, which has been replacing its suite of legacy systems since 2009 as part of the OneCarolina project. Following the implementation of Banner in 2013, the emergence of PeopleSoft represents another milestone accomplishment for the initiative.

“OneCarolina is the single largest business transformation project in the history of the University of South Carolina,” Bill Hogue, vice president for information technology and chief information officer said. “I thank the many individuals who have worked hard on this phase of the project, which will improve overall business operations at the university.”

PeopleSoft is a commercial software solution selected by OneCarolina to bring the UofSC community into the 21st century of data management through the replacement of its finance, payroll, and human resources legacy systems. PeopleSoft aligns with the university system’s mission as a multi-campus public institution that supports South Carolina's educators, learners, and other stakeholders. Included in the finance portion of PeopleSoft are systems such as purchasing, accounting, asset management, and grants. No longer will these areas be required to conduct business using paper forms and other outdated processes. Instead, staff will perform tasks in an electronic system that stresses self-service and automation. While finance is now live, payroll and human resources are launching in January 2016.

Approved by the Board of Trustees, OneCarolina is the university’s multi-year initiative to modernize, streamline, and enhance its suite of academic and administrative services. The project puts much of the university’s business management into the hands of those responsible, providing an environment where staff can be more efficient on a day-to-day basis, and faculty and students can continue to cultivate the university system’s growing portfolio of academic services. Like Self Service Carolina and my.sc.edu, the PeopleSoft implementation at UofSC is a OneCarolina initiative.
