How Do I Apply?
Application Process
We are now accepting applications for fall 2024. Please submit a New Instructor Application, current resume/CV, and cover letter to our office at 1728 College Street or to Dr.
Dan Friedman at friedman@sc.edu. Your cover letter should address the reason for your interest, fit for working with
first-year students, and any relevant teaching or facilitation experience.
Please note that students with graduate assistantships of more than 10 hours are not eligible for this position.
After Applying
Competitive applicants will be invited to meet with the Executive Director of University
101 Programs to discuss the opportunity to teach the course, preferences regarding
workshop dates, and next steps in the process.
Requirements for Ph.D. Students
To teach University 101, applicants must have a master's degree. Successful applicants will also need to complete the three-day Teaching Experience Workshop, which will be offered on:
- January 3-5
- February 9, 16, and 23
- March 5-7
- May 7-9
University 101 Instructors are also required to participate in regular professional development opportunities offered by University 101 Programs.
