Vaughn Carter

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Carter Vaughn is a PhD student in the Spanish language and literature program. Carter received her BA in Spanish language and literature at James Madison University in 2021. 

Carter spent time in Buenos Aires, Argentina during her undergraduate years, and her research interests align with her experience abroad.  Some of these interests include human rights advocacy in response to the genocide that took place in Argentina in the 1970s and 1980s, disability visibility in the Southern Cone, and literature of the Boom Latinoamericano. 

Carter is currently a graduate assistant and instructor for the Spanish department and hopes to pursue a career in academia in the future.
