Lauren Kalman: Devices for Filling a Void

January 17-February 21, 2019

Opening reception: January 24th

Devices for Filling a Void combine jewelry forms with forms of reconstructive surgical devices, used to hold the flesh in pace as it heals. Through the use of the semiotics of gold, this work visualizes the aesthetic, social, and ethical implications of the medicalization of beauty, adornment, and sexuality.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
