School of Visual Art and Design

gallery with artwork

The School of Visual Art and Design boasts two galleries, and we also make use of outdoor space to display student and faculty work.

McMaster Gallery

McMaster Gallery is dedicated to promoting visual art as a tool and a channel for education within the university and the community. The gallery hosts rotating exhibitions and programming that examine cultural and social contexts, challenge contemporary perceptions of art making and provide a framework for intellectual and creative inquiry. The gallery is free and open to the public and the hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closed weekends and all university holidays).

McMaster Exhibitions

Here are just a few of the exhibitions at McMaster Gallery. Take a look at all current and upcoming exhibitions, view previous exhibitions and make plans to visit the gallery. View more exhibitions.

Passage Gallery

The Passage Gallery was created as an exhibition space for the work of students in the School of Visual Art & Design. The space is student-run and organized, and hosts a full schedule of exhibitions each semester, from curated group shows to individual B.F.A. thesis shows. Students are encouraged to experiment with exhibition design and installation, and to use the Passage Gallery as a laboratory for developing new ideas.
