Media Services

Media Services (McMaster 301) is a place where students may check out equipment for their productions. Cameras, lights, sound and support equipment are all available, depending on your course enrollment.

Information & Policies

  • Monday through Thursday 9 am - 8 pm
  • Friday 9 am - 5 pm
  • Saturday 3 pm - 7 pm

* Any variation to these hours is posted on the door.

Equipment may be reserved up to one week in advance by coming to the counter and filling out a reservation form in person. You must pick up your reserved equipment by 4:15 pm on the designated day or the reservation will be cancelled and the equipment may be given to another student.
When you check out equipment, you will have it for two days (example: check outs on Monday are due Wednesday). Exceptions are weekends and holidays which will offer longer check out times. Please note that you are responsible for equipment checked out in your name and you will be charged for any breakage or missing parts. Equipment is due back at 12 pm on the due date.
We have established a late fee policy for students bringing equipment back after it is due. Bringing equipment back after 12 pm on the due date results in a five-dollar late fee. Ten dollars per item per day is added to that fee if the return occurs after the first day. Your check out privileges will be placed on hold until your fine is paid. If you owe a fine, we will issue you a Fee Memo which you will take to the SVAD Office to pay. Abusers of our system may be banned from the use of our equipment.
Some of our lab spaces can be reserved for your use. The Greenscreen, Lighting Studio, VR Lab and Audio Mods are all available for reservation. To reserve a lab, come to Media Services and we will make the reservation for you. Labs may be reserved for up to 3 hours. When you arrive at your reserved time, we will escort you to the lab and unlock the door for you.

* If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your start time, your reserved block may be given to another student.
