Bio

Background: Dr. William (Bill) Roudebush is a professor (founding faculty), Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Dr. Roudebush received his PhDs (reproductive physiology and developmental biology) from Michigan State University with W. Richard Dukelow, PhD and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at East Tennessee State University with Brijinder S. Minhas, PhD. He received a B.S. from Morehead State University and a M.S. from The Ohio State University.

Prior to joining USCSOM Greenville, Dr. Roudebush was a faculty member at Charleston Southern University and Chair of Biology, East Tennessee State University, and the Medical University of South Carolina. He has also served as the director of the clinical (andrology & endocrinology) laboratory at Reproductive Biology Associates, where he developed the procedure to enhance IUI pregnancy outcomes with platelet activating factor. He also very active with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society of Reproductive Biologists & Technologists (SRBT) where he has served on various committees (ASRM; SRBT), the Board of Directors (ASRM) and as the society’s President (SRBT). Additionally, Dr. Roudebush is an active member of the American Association of Bioanalysis and the College of Reproductive Biology.
Teaching Interest(s): Embryology and Physiology
Research Interest(s): Dr. Roudebush’s research focus is on the significance of signaling phospholipids (i.e. platelet activating factor) during fertilization and preimplantation embryo development. Dr. Roudebush has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and abstracts in the field of reproductive biology.
