Awards Criteria

The School of Medicine Greenville offers scholarships to incoming M1 students through a standard scholarship application. Review the financial aid timeline for deadlines and details. In addition, generous donors and supporters have provided scholarships that can boost your award total, but many have additional and criteria that must be met. Be sure to review the requirements for these outside scholarships.

Your scholarship application is reviewed holistically, with a focus on four major areas:

  • admissions advisory committee score
  • financial need
  • distance travelled, defined as the obstacles you overcame and the achievements you earned that brought you to this point in your career
  • value added to class.

Upon review, the scholarship committee ranks all applicants and makes awards based on these rankings.

It is possible for you to receive a scholarship if you excel in any of the four focus areas. Unless otherwise noted, you will receive your award for four years so long as you progress with your class.
