Bio

Background: I was born in Spartanburg, SC and graduated from Dorman High School. I have a younger brother that is married to a local internist.

I have two beautiful boys that are wide-open with energy and enthusiasm for being outdoors. We spend our weekends, walking our dogs, going for hikes, playing basketball, and doing lots of wrestling!

I am very active and participate in cycling and barre classes nearly every day. I believe a whole foods diet, exercise, and mindfulness meditation are critical to inner well being. I love promoting wellness!

Community Service:

Outreach clinical missions to Botswana, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Cuba.
Teaching Interest(s): Major Teaching Responsibilities (current):

As a pediatric cardiologist with training in internal medicine and pediatrics, I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to work with medical students, nursing students, residents, and other trainees as they learn more about our specialty. I have a particular interest in fostering the growth of internal medicine/pediatric combined residency students especially in the areas of transition education and adult congenital heart disease.

Major Clinical Interests and Responsibilities:

I have been primarily trained as a pediatric cardiologist with specific interests in adult congenital heart disease. I spent a significant amount of my training understanding the needs of Youth with Special Health Care Needs (YSHCN) and, in particular, the challenge of transitioning care from pediatrics to internal medicine. I will be participating in the inpatient and outpatient care of our patients from the day they are born onward into their adult years. I will be involved in the imaging of these patients though the modality of echocardiography.
